The City of Pines
Baguio city is called the summer capital of the Philippines. Its a city on top of a mountain so temperature is always cooler than the lowlands. Baguio city is a 6 hour ride from Metro Manila. We departed at manila around 3pm then we arrived at Baguio at 9pm. A bit tired so just decided to sleep then wake up early for tomorrow’s tour. We started to visit the Cathedral Church..
Then after we went to Philippine Military Academy (PMA)
PMA is the place where competitive future Filipino leaders molded and trained.
Next destination is the Camp John hay. They called this place little America. A place inspired by Americans.
Camp John Hay Cemetery of Negativity. The Cemetery of Negativity is not a normal cemetery. Built by the Americans in the early 20th century, it is a small picket-fenced enclosure with rows of inscribed headstones under which “negative habits and thoughts” (not people) are buried.
Baguio celebrate there Panagbenga Festival during the month of February. This festival was started at camp John hay until Baguio City adopted this festival..
Ideal romantic venue for wedding but the rates are really expensive.. Its about 3,000 per hour rent.
the house where the Americans tend to stay during the 20th century
Overlooking from the veranda.
there SALA 🙂
Guest Room
The library.. I wasn’t able to go inside because during the time I visited it was under construction.
the history behind Baguio city..
The bell house..
the attire of Igorots way back 20th century.. they told as that during that time the basis to know what type of family class you came from will depend on how many tattoos and jewelry you have.
This was the original Camp John hay way back 20th century under the Americans.
After the historical tour.Dropped by at the mansion to take some pictures.
then finally off to Strawberry farm at La Trinidad Benguet.
Taste the fresh strawberry.. 🙂 If you will buy it along the way its only 100php per kilo. But if you wish to do the picking by yourself as what I did that will cost 300 pesos for 1 kilo.
City of Pines the best place to relax and refresh. I LOVE BAGUIO CITY- gentleshy!
